Universities in the UAE rank among the world’s best

Graduating from unviersityUniversities in the UAE have been ranked among the best, according to the 2019 World University Rankings.

The rankings, provided by the Times Higher Education, include more than 1,250 universities. Khalifa University led the country’s best after being ranked in the 301-350 places, among the best higher education institutions in the world.

United Arab Emirates University followed in second place in the country tally, placing in the 351-400 rankings. The American University of Sharjah and University of Sharjah were tied in third place, ranking among the 801-1000 top universities worldwide.

THE ranks university performance by quality of teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.

THE said that the UAE "scored well when viewed through the prism of "international outlook," which is determined by data on the level of international staff, students and cross-border research at each institution."

"Small countries, such as the UAE, that are important global hubs similar to Singapore and Switzerland naturally have the best scores, with Hong Kong taking a noticeable leap forward in recent years," THE added.

British Universities boasted the top two spots in the rankings, with Oxford taking first place and Cambridge taking the second. US institutions were also among the top 100.
